So by now, you should know about Apple’s announcement about iPhone OS 3.0. If not, you either don’t have a computer, TV, or care. =) I won’t go into detail about what it includes since every tech and gadget blog and news site out there already has. So I won’t flood you with more redundancy. However, I wonder if I’d be able to do the following:
- cut/copy & paste of calendar events
- copy images from Safari (or do I have to save it to my photos then copy it from there?)
- assign the single- or double-press of the home button to bring up Spotlight
- buy TomTom’s supposed navigation software (since they already have maps)
- send to and receive MMS from devices other than the iPhone and from other carriers
- meeting invitations from calendar
- Gmail push (though I suppose, this is really a Google issue, not an Apple one)
- native voice dialing (esp. useful in places like California where there’s a strictly, unenforced, hands-free law)
With a 3.0 Beta already available to developers, I’m sure in the days and weeks to come my questions will be answered. Apple states there are over 100 new additions in 3.0, but I’m not sure what qualifies as a single addition. That is, is cut/copy & paste 1 or 3 additions? Maybe more if it includes the fact that it works across all apps.
I’m happy to know my phone will be more functional without having to make another purchase. Hopefully, the developers and early adopters out there have enough QA support to sort out the inevitable bugs so 3.0’s launch will be less of a pain for us end-users. Only time will tell!
Today is a good day for this song!!
Surprisingly, there were A LOT of people at Mitchell’s tonight even though it was cold out! I actually didn’t have anything! Just went so friends visiting from Portland can enjoy SF’s best creamery on their last night here.
I’m really hoping background apps and copy & paste are included in this OS version. The third time’s usually charm, yeah?

Just found these. Wow! Talk about throwback! Now I want to cruise around in my car since it’s the only way to play tapes! Where’s my Walkman?!?
How do you say this…YES! FINALLY!! Thanks Gmail!

Tumblerette is now the official Tumblr iPhone App! (and it’s free!)
Tumblerette was originally developed by the insanely talented Garrett Ross and Jeff Rock at Mobelux. We had the pleasure of hanging out with them in New York last month. Not only are these guys remarkable developers, they have an incredibly inspiring vision for building consumer products, and we couldn’t wait to start working with them on the next suite of Tumblr/iPhone features.
There’s a ton we have planned for mobile devices and the iPhone, and we’re obviously thrilled to be working with Jeff and Garrett :)
If you’ve already downloaded Tumblerette, you’ll need to re-download the new Tumblr app to get the updates. This version comes with some slick new features, including the iPhone native Dashboard. Go download it!! →
